Everything we use was designed by someone.
Whether we know it or not, someone put a lot of effort into making the product we’re using. In fact, if a product designer does her job right then the design goes unnoticed.
The product is ‘invisible’ as the user goes from point ‘a’ to point ‘b.’ Every part of the user’s journey was thought through to create a memorable and delightful experience.
Next time you’re using a product, think about the invisible makers of your experiences.
Here’s one of my favorite talks on the topic by Jack Dorsey where he uses the example of the Golden Gate Bridge in SF to describe ‘invisible’ product design.
