Do you remember the night before the first day of school?
Every year, I’d get the same feeling. It was a combination of fear and excitement for whatever the new year had in store.
I’d make sure my backpack was stocked with new school supplies, I had new clothes laid out for the first day, and that I was ready for whatever teachers would throw at me.
In adult life, that feeling happens in a much less predictable manner.
Some examples might be:
- Moving to a new city
- Going to graduate school
- Graduating from a higher education institution
- Starting a business
- Raising money
- Getting a customer
- Making the first sale
- Hitting revenue goals
- Changing apartments within a city
- Getting a new job
- Taking on a new role
- Getting engaged
- Getting married
- Having kids
The milestones start to repeat once you have kids. The professional equivalent is hiring new employees.
When was the last time you felt the first day feeling?
