The feeling of doing something new for the first time is awesome. Whether it’s making a new recipe, a design for a product, or hacking together a solution to a problem.
While applying for research as a freshman at Rutgers, a professor once asked me, why do you want to join my lab?
I answered by saying something along the lines of, “The process leading to a discovery excites me. Slowly making incremental progress through experiments every day in order to arrive at a unique insight that no one else has.”
I imagine the feeling of discovery of such an insight must be similar to doing something new.
